We took this trip with a company called together travel and it was a great day out. Our guide sugar was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. After a short stop at a waterfall followed by ancient city ruins we headed for the green lake. We were not disappointed, beautiful scenery, a relaxing boat trip followed by some excellent food. Fun for both kids and adults!
Our group was 2 adults and a 9 year old child. We paid 75 Euro through a local agent in Alanya port and went on 22 October 2022. The weather was warm enough to be in beachwear in the region but we could have done with thermals for the boat trip. We were the 4th pick up and there were probably around 10 in total plus a stop for a smoking break for 10 minutes. We were told it was a 45 minute journey, but we were picked up at 8.30 and arrived there at 11. If we knew it would be 2.5 hours on the coach, we wouldn’t have booked it. Our first advice is not to believe the transfer times they give you. The trip itself was ok, but we wouldn’t recommend it to anyone though as a must do. Views were pretty at points, although it’s actually quite small and you just do circles of the dam area. It wasn’t worth the journey time to get there in the first place in our opinion. Not the tour operators fault, but the water was far too cold to swim in, the boat had a tarpaulin roof on so no sun was getting to us or anyone and the canyon created a wind tunnel that meant it was freezing at parts! The fishing… the main reason we went as that was our only ask when looking for a trip, was a gimmick, reels that didn’t work so basically pole fishing, already out with one piece of sweetcorn on it when you got there and 70 people on a pontoon at about 1pm… nothing is ever going to be caught then. It was pointless. Included was a meal and unbranded soft drinks. This was ok, not the finest cuisine but ironically better than what our hotel seems to be offering. The tour guides made no effort to interact with us at all, but I don’t think their English was great so perhaps that is why? The other guests were all German and Russian and they seemed ton interact with the German families most. A guy takes your photo, puts it on a hideously tacky plate and asks you for 14 euros. Do the pirate boat trip instead as that is more interesting and far less travel time.
Green Canyon oki as day tour. Only hotel return 3 huors not reasonable. Boat oki swimming great. Lunch well prepared. Fresh water very nice. Guodes nice and photographers well manored. Free coffee appreciated.
My partner and I enjoyed the Green Canyon when we got there which included spectacular views, two opportunities to swim and go fishing, a great lunch overlooking the canyon and unlimited free drinks on the boat. However, we were disappointed with the lack of detail on the pick up/drop off and journey to the Green Canyon (which is in fact a dam). We expected to get a boat cruise from Antalya but instead were picked up at 7:15 for a 2 and half hour coach trip there and it took another 3 hours to return to the hotel. This was due to so many other pick ups and drop offs to other hotels. Our pick up was also half an hour late in the morning and upon our return we were dropped a 10 minute walk away from our hotel. We recommend the trip but only if you have the patience to be on a coach for approx 6 hours of the day.
As much as this was beautiful scenery. It is not suitable for everyone it is a massive climb in bus up to mountainside. Once there you have to walk down uneven steps about 45 with parts not having a barrier and quite steep to board the boat. Once you stop for lunch it is a hike up 4 lots of steps around 20/25 each section again parts with no barrier very unsafe. Lunch was heaving and not great. I had bad knees so found it very painful. Also when leaving the site it was a very very steep hill and we all had to walk behind the bus to the top of the hill before we were allowed to board. Again not for the unfit or slightly disabled. This has to be highlighted on the trip description.
