Overview

Hierapolis ("Holy City") was an ancient  Greco-Roamn city in Phrygia located on hot springs in South West Anatolia. Its ruins are adjacent to maodern Pamukkale.

Hierapolis is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The hot springs there have been used as a spa since the 2nd Century B.C.E. and people came to soothe their ailments with many of them retiring or dying here.

Some of the highlights; the large necropolis is filled with sarcophagi, the main street with the gates and latrines, cathedral, the theatre and St. Philips tomb. The hot springs causing cascades which are called the Cotton Castle. Because of the distance we have to leave Antalya early and return late but its worth it to experince this wonderful place.

Great guide, value for money very well managed, good tour, no problem with facilities, informative program , really enjoyed. Full history, great volcanic water to swim in. Bekir was the great guide- fluent in English, very friendly
5* only because of Eren, our tour guide!

This tour won’t disappoint!

We had a fantastic tour guide who was very knowledgeable. He gave us historical and cultural insights and was more than happy to answer questions.

Had a terrible experience at the Villa Castillo (lunch location) but the Pamukkale views and Hierapolis saved the day!

Definitely a must when visiting the city!
Memorable Experience

From start to finish, this tour was a remarkable and extraordinary journey. What added value to this tour was the great people I met who were also patrons of the tour. Our tour guide was informative and amiable. While the bus ride to Pamukkale may have been approximately 3 hours or so, the journey went by fairly quickly with naps in between and pit stops. One of the pit stops was at an onyx and semi-precious stones factory/jewelry store. You will find volcanic and zultanite stones there. Great place for gift shopping. Lunch was great, and the bonus after lunch was the option to go paragliding over Pamukkale's limestone terraces, which I did and that was such a cool experience. The paragliding is not included in the price of the tour, and arrangements are made separately on the day of the tour for those wishing to go paragliding. Once we made it to Pamukkale, the real fun started from walking in the limestone pools, swimming in the Cleopatra pool and trekking up to the Greco-Roman opera house that is nearby. There is a museum and restaurants to dine at, but I didn't do this. The tour was completed by 4:30pm and we were back on our way to Antalya. I was headed for the airport to catch my 10:20pm flight back to Istanbul. One can be dropped off at the airport instead of one's hotel for an extra minimal cost. That's what made this whole tour experience all the more convenient. Don't miss out solo travelers!
Pamukkale with bonus paragliding experience

Pamukkale is an amazing, must see place. Paragliding, thermal bath, impressive limestone formation, ruins and more.
Long drive but worth it!

We had our reservations about going so far on a day trip from Belek but our super friendly and super knowledgeable guide Bekir, made it a really great day out. We loved the hot swim in the Cleopatra pool. The Walk around the ancient city was fascinating Bekir's guidance as to what the highlights were was spot on. Pamukkale is well worth seeing. There are a couple of stops along the way where you can buy local wares, be prepared to say no if you genuinely don't want anything. (And haggle if you do)
The day was efficiently planned,
interesting and fun. Thanks Bekir!
Lovely tour with good tour guide

This was a really lovely tour where we had lots of free time at Hierapolis to go in the Cleopatra Pool, look around the ruins and also see the Pamukkale pools. Our tour guide Suphan was amazing, lots of information and generally really very friendly. There were some quite unfriendly customers on our tour which were rude to the tour guide and even said they were going to complain about him. This was uncalled for. He dealt with this professionally and made sure everyone else was enjoying it. The stop at the stone place wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea but we found it added to the experience and gave a small place some business.
Just beware in every shop along the way the workers were very pushy to the point where we were constantly followed around and pressured. We would definitely recommend this tour for other young couples, families etc.
Great tour, great guide with good planning on schedule, highly recommend

Bekir was our tour guide and he was super!!

He was very knowledgeable and planned the timing of the tour so perfectly! We were always ahead of the bigger tours so we don’t have to waste time.

Highly recommend anyone who goes on this tour to request Bekir!

Perfect tour to end year 2022! Bekir did great job explaining not only history, but also turkish culture, lifestyle and a lot more. Can only recommend this tour packed with interesting information and fun stories.
Good tour with some minor minuses
AndersMattias_S, 12-12-2022
Good tour in total. Guide was clearly on routine and not so enthusiastic but still knowledgeable enough. Plus points for not begging for gratuities and tell us in detail how many 100s lira were expected as minimum, like they would have done in US.
It doesnt get 5* because the included lunch was basically tasteless, they stopped only at overprices tourist depots along the way, and the tour included a surprise stop at a stone workshop which was clealy a scam. Dont buy anything there, you can just go and wait outside.
But the destination was otherwise nice and worth to visit.
Beautiful place

Guide is very knowledgeable and can talk about lot of things to be engaging. The place pamukkale is beautiful. Only negative only get 3.30 hours in the place.
